- To recreate the Simply Borders image above, start with a new image 300x100 pixels. I always work with 16.7 million colors because most of the effects in PSP require that color level to work. Its always better to reduce colors later than to increase them. Make the background color of our image black.
- Click on the text tool and put some white text into your image. Make sure that your foreground color is white first. Leave the text selected.
- You can use or not use any text effect you like or just use a premade image if you wish. I'll use the Simply Gold technique for the lettering. Go to Image|Effects|Cutout. I'm using Interior white, Shadow black, Opacity 40, Blur 4, and both offsets are set to 3. Next step, Colors|Colorize. I'm using Hue 30 and Saturation 204. Right click your image to remove the selection of the text at this point.
- This is where you will begin if you are just adding a border to a premade image. Make sure your foreground color is still white and go to Image|Add Borders I set mine to 5 all around.
You should have an image that looks like this after you click OK.
- Next, choose the Magic Wand tool to select only the white border that we've just added. I'm using RBG for the Match Mode, Tolerence 80 and Feather 0.
- At this point we are going to go to the Blade Pro plug in filter. You can get an evaluation version of Blade Pro at http://www.flamingpear.com
Go to Image|Plug-in Filters, then choose the directory that your Flaming Pear filters are in. My Blade Pro filter is in 2.
- Here you can see the settings I use for this frame. Or, you can just download them as a preset by right clicking this link and choosing "Save Link As" in Netscape Browsers or "Save Target As" in Internet Explorer Browsers. sbpreset.q9q
- While our new border is still selected go to Colors|Colorize. I am using the same settings for Simply Borders as Simply Gold, Hue 30 and Saturation 204.
- Now all that is left to do is right click your image to deselect the border or go to Selections|Select None for the same action. There you have it...Simply Borders!
Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!
