Hi all... here is the original PSP Version 4.14 tutorial...version 5 update coming soon

Hi Gang!

I was messing around with metal effects the other day and came up with a new (as far as I am aware), and SIMPLE way to create highlighted metal text with a 3d appearance. The really neat thing about this, is that it is fast and easy...not complicated at all. And, you can vary the color to anything you want too. Check it out!!

I have included the steps to gold and silver. The gold is exactly the same with one more step!

Also, I'd like to thank Jasc and all of you for being excited about our site.

Thank you!!

Brad

  1. OK, start with a new image with
a white background and in 16.7
    million colors.
  2. Next, set the foreground color
    to white also.
  3. Select the text tool by
    clicking on the A.

  4. Click on the new image window
to get the Add Text window to open.

  5. Once you have selected the font
and the size, check antialias and
    floating. Click ok.

  6. Now, with the text still selected,
    go to Images|Special Effects|Cutout

  7. Be sure that the Fill Interior box
is NOT checked, and follow the
settings in the screen shot at
    the right ---->

  8. OK, now this is where the gold and
the silver part company. For silver,
skip down to #10. For gold, once
the cutout is applied, go to
    Colors|Colorize

  9. OK, set the Hue to 30 and Saturation
    to 240 for gold.

  10. Now, gold and silver rejoin, and for
both, deselect the text and go to
    Image|Normal filters|Sharpen more
You can do this step a second time
to lighten the text a bit more.
Makes it better for dark backgrounds.

There you have it...Simply!
